There is nothing more rewarding than being able to boost someone's confidence with a fresh color; to add a change to a regular day with a transformation cut, or to construct the perfect updo for when you say "I do." That's the power that cosmetology brings.
Hey there, I'm Kristen. I am the owner and sole operator of Shattered Hourglass Hair Salon & Photography! This is my 4th year adventuring with the creative limits of hair design & coloring! Most people call me a jack-of-all-trades! I provide haircuts for men, women, & children; hair coloring; styling; updos; manicures; waxing; ear piercing; portraiture photography; and I even sell some of my artwork, in the salon!
I'm originally from Republic, WA; born and raised. I left this small community for several years, residing in Poulsbo, WA, and Spokane, WA. But this was always home!
I returned to the area in August of 2016 and began renovating an old building into a working hair salon. It took some creativity and elbow grease, but the salon turned out wonderful! Thanks to the help and devotion from my family!
People always ask me several questions upon meeting me; what is your favorite service to do? And how'd you come up with the business name? Well, first I must say that I love any service that is a transformation, stepping away from the everyday haircuts and colors, sometimes. And for my name; Shattered Hourglass, it started as the humble name of one of my unpublished manuscripts. Many do not know, but it is my passion to write fantasy/fiction and I hope to, one day, have my books published. From there, it became the name of my photography business, since 2012. I decided to keep the SH name going since it was already familiar in the community. Although, it can be a handful to spit out on an answering machine!
